NZFAP Standard V.7 - what's changed?

NZFAP Standard V.7

Each year we review the NZFAP Standard to ensure it continues to reflect market demands – so your farming practices continue to be among the best in the world.

A new version (seven) of the Standard came into on 1 October 2024, to align with the start of the new season.

 What’s changed?

It’s easy to find the requirements that are new or have been amended – just look for the words '(New)’ or ‘(Amended)’ at the end of each requirement. See this factsheet for more details.

Key areas where changes have been made include:

  • Origin and traceability

  • Biosecurity and food safety

  • Animal remedy inventory and storage, and animal treatments

  • Agrichemical register, agrichemical and fertiliser storage, and hazardous material requirements

  • Shearing

  • Farm infrastructure and waste management (formally environment and sustainability).

You should have received a copy of the latest Standard. If you didn't, please request one here - it's important you familiarise yourself with the standards and the checklist on page 8.

You can also find templates for the record keeping requirements here.
